Bad smell is usually caused by water in the house - leaking nipple pipes or bell drinkers - you house should be absolutley dry. Careless washing of drinkers inside the house is also not a good idea - if you have manual drinkers then buy a container big enough to wash the drinkers in - or to put under your automatic drinkers when rinsing them. If your litter is wet you can look forward to sick birds next - if you smell a strong amonia smell check the bottom of your chickens feet - that will be where you will see problems.
